All souvenirs are hand-crafted from local wood following traditional patterns and production methods handed down in the family. All painting and the knotting of the rigging of our ship models is, of course, also done by hand. The assortment ranges from cutters to the Santa Maria as well as Viking boats. Furthermore our assortment was extended by development of new models like the “Keitelkahn” or the “Gellenkogge”.

A “Keitelkahn” is a sailing boat with a rather flat bottom used for fishing in the “Kurische Haff” which is a sort of. lagoon. The colourful pennants on the mast or sail tops have a very prosaic origin: The Fisheries Authority required every boat to fly a flag indicating to which community a particular boat belonged. The flag, in turn, was decorated with a wooden pennant depicting colourful scenes from their respective village or from the owner’s time of service with the Imperial Navy.
